Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao came down heavily on the Congress government over the demolition of huts in Guttala Begumpet in Hyderabad despite a stay order from the High Court. He urged Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Meenakshi Natarajan to intervene and prevail upon the Congress government in Telangana to stop its ‘Bulldozer Raj’ in the State.
Harish Rao said the Revanth Reddy government was unleashing “Bulldozer Raj” in Telangana, like the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. He said the demolition drive, carried out under heavy police deployment by HYDRAA authorities, and showed no regard for legal restraint or human dignity.
“Poor families begged to save their belongings, but their cries were unheard. The authorities mercilessly razed every single hut to the ground without any empathy,” he said.
Calling out the hypocrisy of the Congress leadership, the former Minister said Rahul Gandhi condemned bulldozer politics across the country and spoke of “Mohabbat ki Dukaan”, while his own party’s Chief Minister in Telangana was doing the exact opposite by demolishing the lives of the poor with brute police force. “This is the height of hypocrisy and political duplicity,” he said.
Harish Rao urged Rahul Gandhi, Kharge and Natarajan to intervene immediately and rein in the Telangana government, to act according to the constitutional values and ideals of Congress claims to uphold.
“Revanth Reddy must be advised not to bring UP-style bulldozer politics into Telangana,” he said.
