Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Tuesday sounded an alarm over the economic collapse of Telangana under the Congress government, referring to repeated deflation. He blamed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for pushing the State towards recession through reckless and poorly conceived policies.
Citing official data showing negative inflation for three of the past four months, Harish Rao said the State’s economy was clearly collapsing. Telangana recorded deflation of -0.93 per cent in June, -0.44 per cent in July, and -0.15 per cent in September, even as India’s retail inflation stood at 1.54 per cent.
“This is the first time since Telangana’s formation that such deflation has been recorded repeatedly. It is clear evidence of the Congress government’s failure in financial management,” he said.
The senior MLA said that despite the festive season of Dasara and Bathukamma, when consumer demand usually rises, prices continued to fall, indicating stagnation in spending and weak market confidence.
“Telangana, which was once a national model for growth under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership, is now sinking due to Revanth Reddy’s misrule and economic anarchy,” he remarked.
He urged the Chief Minister to abandon bulldozer politics and vindictive governance. Instead, he suggested that Revanth Reddy should focus on reviving the State’s economic growth and restoring investor and consumer confidence.
