Hyderabad: BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T Harish Rao on Friday warned police officers against targeting the BRS leaders and acting unfairly and illegally at the behest of their political bosses. He asserted that those who were violating the law would be held accountable even after their retirement.

Condemning the police excess against the BRS cadre ahead of party working president KT Rama Rao attending the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation at Jubilee Hills police station, Harish Rao said the Congress was using the SIT to target the BRS leaders with political vendetta. However, certain police officials were acting excessively and crossing the law to impress their Congress bosses, he said.

“No matter where you hide, even if you are across the seven seas, we will bring you back and investigate. We will not let you go,” he warned.

Alleging that officers nearing retirement were being deliberately placed in the SIT, Harish Rao said attempts were being made to harass BRS leaders through false cases and motivated leaks. “If officers act unjustly, give false leaks or intentionally create trouble, they will face consequences,” he said.

The former Minister asserted that when the BRS returns to power, officials who acted illegally would receive no support from the government. “You will have to spend your own money, hire your own lawyers and run around courts,” he remarked, urging officers to act on instructions of the Chief Minister, but only according to law.

Harish Rao also accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of orchestrating a conspiracy to intimidate the opposition, calling it clear case of political vendetta. He reiterated that the BRS leaders have nothing to hide and were cooperating with the investigation authorities. “But the authorities are giving selective leaks to the media without any evidence, only to harass the BRS leaders,” he said, questioning why no action was initiated against those who circulated false propaganda and defamatory content against BRS leaders including Rama Rao.
