Kothagudem: District administration has planned to plant over one crore saplings in the seventh phase of Haritha Haram programme.
Collector (FAC) Durishetty Anudeep informed mediapersons here on Friday that around 90,29,211 saplings would be planted in 481 gram panchayats. As many as 14,68,017 saplings would be planted in four municipalities in the district.
The Collector, who held a review meeting with district officials here recently to discuss arrangements for the Haritha Haram programme, said that officials in all municipalities were directed to establish a tree park in each ward. Similarly, prior permission would be given to avenue plantation, where 10-ft tall saplings would be planted. Officials in villages and towns were told to identify lands for block, bund and community plantation, Anudeep said.
It was aimed to complete the plantation within 15 days after launching the programme. Saplings would be planted on bunds of canals, tanks and irrigation projects and every household would be given six saplings during the programme, he added.
