Mancherial: Telangana State Police Housing Corporation chairman Koleti Damodar on Wednesday urged people to plant saplings and protect them. He took part in planting 1,000 saplings on the premises of Armed Reserve Headquarters-Bellampalli, under the ongoing seventh phase of Telanganaku Haritha Haram programme, on Thursday.
He was joined by Ramagundam Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana.
Damodar, speaking on the occasion, said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who spearheaded the Telangana Movement for 14 years, had introduced several innovative welfare schemes and developmental programmes. He opined that Haritha Haram was one of such noble initiatives. He requested everybody to become partners and make it a success.
The chairman said that policemen along with their family members were doing their bit for a massive plantation drive by planting thousands of saplings in open spaces for six years. He said that even prisoners housed in various jails were taking part in the programme and added that presenting saplings as gifts has become a tradition now.
Later, the chairman and the Police Commissioner took part in a similar plantation drive at Kasipet police station. He shared many tips on how to grow saplings and create a pleasant ambience around the police stations. He encouraged policemen to widely plant saplings and convert stations into idyllic spots.
Mancherial DCP Uday Kumar Reddy, OSD Sharath Chandra Pawar, AR Additional DCP Sanjeev Kumar, Bellampalli ACP MA Raheman, Jaipur ACP Narender, Mancherial ACP Akhil Mahajan, Inspectors Pramod Kumar, Jagadish, Raju, Babu Rao and many other police officials were present.
