Hyderabad: Having dabbled with professional cricket before taking a shot at films, actor Harsh Kanumilli feels that his struggle to succeed in his chosen field gave him the edge to look at the positive sides. His debut movie ‘Sehari’ hit theatres on Friday.

“I’ve played a bit of cricket as an under-14 teenager. Later, trying my hand at films was the only adventure I had after watching Superstar Mahesh Babu’s film ‘Takkari Donga’. It inspired me to become an actor. If you want to gain a foothold in any profession, one has to go through a lot of struggles. Only then one can see the light at the end of the tunnel. That’s exactly what happened to me. Luckily, I happened to work with talented people,” says Harsh.

The actor wanted to show his film to star Nandamuri Balakrishna. “But it didn’t materialise. I showed the film to actor Rajasekhar and he really liked it. I am confident that whoever watches the movie will show it to 10 others. The grandeur and visuals are much better than what I had imagined. ‘Sehari’ is nothing short of any top Bollywood rom-coms. I think its writing and execution quality are going to set a new benchmark for sure. I used to work for short films and commercials. I gave a number of auditions for feature films but couldn’t succeed. A friend advised me to create my own opportunities. That’s when I started writing a story,” he adds.

Coming to the cast in the film, the actor says music composer Koti has got a strong role to play. “His performance has surprised everyone. Actor Abhinav Gomatam and leading lady Simran Chaudhary, too, have given their best. Abhinav’s comedy will tickle the funny bones of viewers,” he adds.
