Hyderabad: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, there are speculations over the whereabouts of Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir.

Several claims of Munir being missing have surfaced on social media, with some suggesting that he has fled the country, while others claimed that he has gone underground into a bunker in Rawalpindi.

The unconfirmed reports doing the rounds in some sections of the Indian media also claim that General Munir has been peculiarly missing from action. These reports have added fuel to the already widespread rumours, which are trending on X with the hashtag #MunirOut.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Prime Minister’s Office has posted a photo showing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and General Munir at an event, along with a caption mentioning the date and location.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and officers of PMA Kakul in a group photo with the graduating officers of the 151st Long Course at PMA Kakul, Abbottabad. April 2025. (sic),” the caption read.

The PM’s office posting a picture with the caption explicitly mentioning where and when it was taken is being seen as an attempt to counter the speculations over General Munir being missing.

At this point, however, it cannot be confirmed if the Army Chief is indeed missing.
