Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association (THCAA) has demanded the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the recent brutal murder of advocate G Swapna Kumari.
A THCAA delegation met DGP B Shivadhar Reddy on Friday and submitted a representation citing multiple FIRs, contradictory versions of events and alleged investigative lapses in the case.
According to the association, the 34-year-old advocate had faced repeated attacks over the past few months and had lodged several complaints, but no effective protection was provided.
They said, FIRs were registered at Chevella and Moinabad police stations at different stages, with initial cases reportedly treated as road accidents, later FIRs acknowledged criminal conspiracy linked to an ancestral property dispute.
The advocates’ body alleged that material contradictions in FIRs and inquest reports point to suppression of facts and possible shielding of influential suspects.
It urged that all FIRs and prior complaints be clubbed and examined comprehensively by an independent team under senior supervision.
Calling the murder a serious assault on the rule of law and safety of women advocates, THCAA also sought fixing accountability for lapses by police officials and a speedy, fair and impartial investigation.
