Hyderabad: Stung by the criticism of alleged favouristism and nepotism during the Vijay Hazare one-day team, the ‘Apex Council’ of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has decided to set up a two-member Grievance Cell during the under-19 team selection. This was decided in the informal meeting of the Apex Council that was held in Gymkhana on Tuesday.
Secretary R Vijayanand said the Cell will look into all the grievances and take note of the performances of the players. “After the Vijay Hazare episode, we decided to have this cell so that merit players will not be overlooked for the tournament,’’ he said.
HCA was also criticised when the `two-member` selection committee of Arvind Shetty and Anwar Ahmed selected the Vijay Hazare one-day tournament. In the meeting it was resolved that no unilateral announcement of the names of the selectors to take place in Whatsapp group of the Apex Council members. Any such decisions will have to be done only in the presence of all the members of the Apex Council.
Other important decisions taken during the meeting
(a): To disperse the TA and DA of the participating players of the Vijay Hazare on-day team
(b) The pensions of former players will have to paid since December 2020 onwards till date
c) To hold the elections to form the long pending Cricket Players Association of Hyderabad on April 11.
