Hyderabad: Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) general secretary D Guruva Reddy said the 80-page chargesheet filed by the Telangana CID in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), citing an estimated loss of Rs 92.8 crore during the previous Apex Council’s tenure, cannot be the end of the investigation.

“It is a step forward, but it cannot be the end of the investigation into the wider allegations surrounding HCA. If documentary evidence has been submitted in four other complaints, the same standards of urgency, impartiality and accountability must apply to them as well,” Guruva Reddy said.

“The TCA contends that the issues raised in its other complaints extend beyond individual transactions and concern alleged large-scale financial irregularities, parallel society registrations with implications for electoral legitimacy, and continuing violations of applicable constitutional and administrative requirements,” he said.

The TCA urged the CID and the State authorities to disclose the status of these complaints, undertake appropriate investigations and take action wherever evidence establishes criminal liability.

“The material cited by the TCA refers to estimated losses of approximately Rs 92.8 crore, involving alleged supervisory failures, unauthorised expenditure during periods of High Court restrictions and questions over withdrawals connected with Test matches,” Guruva Reddy said.

“Contracts reportedly worth Rs 8.86 crore are alleged to have been awarded without the prescribed public tender process. Questions have also been raised over the pricing of player transport, catering and equipment contracts. There is an alleged discrepancy involving approximately 49,628 tickets, valued at around Rs 14.01 crore, across international fixtures,” he said.

“Concerns include the alleged exposure of sensitive information belonging to young players through OTP/Aadhaar verification procedures, as well as complaints alleging demands for money in connection with selections,” the TCA general secretary said.

Guruva Reddy reiterated the TCA’s demand for formal recognition under the applicable BCCI Constitution and rules, contending that a compliant State-level institutional framework could help widen access to organised cricket, strengthen grassroots infrastructure and create fairer opportunities for players beyond Hyderabad.
