Hyderabad: The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Friday arrested Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Secretary Devraj Ramachander in connection with the ongoing HCA fraud case.
Following a tip-off, Ramachander, 63, a resident of Sainikpuri, was traced and apprehended at a star hotel in Pune, Maharashtra. He had been missing since the investigation began, prompting the CID to issue a lookout circular (LOC) at all Indian airports.
The arrest comes after extensive questioning of five other suspects, including HCA President Jagan Mohan Rao, who were earlier taken into custody for alleged financial irregularities.
Those arrested previously include Jagan Mohan Rao, HCA treasurer JS Srinivas Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, Sri Chakra Cricket Club general secretary Rajendra Yadav, and Club president G. Kavitha. They face charges of conspiracy to commit fraud, misappropriation of funds, and forgery in connection with HCA’s administrative and financial dealings.
The CID has intensified its probe into the scam, which has rocked the state’s cricket administration, and further arrests are not ruled out.
