HCA releases men’s cricket calendar for 2026-27 season
The Hyderabad Cricket Association has unveiled its men’s cricket calendar for the 2026-27 season, featuring a new Super League, State team practice matches and district-level open trials. The schedule has been aligned with the BCCI calendar to support player development and streamline competitions
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has released the men’s cricket calendar for the 2026-27 season, formulated after due consideration of the BCCI domestic calendar and designed to provide a structured and comprehensive roadmap for cricketing activities across the State, according to an HCA media release issued here on Sunday.
The calendar encompasses competitions across the A Division, B Division and C Division, in addition to programmes for the Senior, Under-23, Under-19 and Under-16 age categories. It has been prepared to facilitate advance planning by affiliated clubs, players, officials and all stakeholders, while ensuring optimal alignment with the BCCI domestic schedule.
A notable feature of the 2026-27 season is the introduction of the Super League, which will provide an additional platform for shortlisted players across various categories to compete at a higher level prior to final State team selections. The Super League is aimed at strengthening the player development pathway and enhancing the overall quality of selections.
In another significant initiative, the HCA has incorporated State Team Practice Matches for all major categories, including Seniors, Under-23, Under-19 and Under-16 teams. These preparatory fixtures are intended to ensure that State teams are adequately equipped and match-ready ahead of their respective BCCI tournaments.
The calendar also includes Open Trials across various districts of Telangana, thereby providing opportunities for talented cricketers outside the regular league structure to showcase their abilities and earn selection into the Super League system.
The HCA has made every effort to avoid overlap with BCCI tournament windows and has designed the season calendar to provide clarity and continuity throughout the year. Detailed tournament regulations, fixtures and operational guidelines for each competition will be communicated separately in due course.
