HCA to promote cricket across all 33 Telangana districts
The Hyderabad Cricket Association plans to promote cricket across all 33 districts of Telangana through district units, zonal academies and T-10 tournaments. HCA official T. Seshnarayan said the initiative aims to identify talent and expand opportunities beyond the twin cities
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Cricket Association will soon come out with a comprehensive road map to give a fresh fillip to cricket across all the 33 districts of Telangana, according to Mr. T. Seshnarayan, Chairman, Constitution of the District Cricket Infrastructure Development Committee (Hyderabad Cricket Association).
Mr. Seshnarayan, who briefed media on Wednesday in the presence of some of the existing District Cricket Associations’ secretaries affiliated to the HCA, said that the process of forming District units in the entire State would take some time but in the meantime, the CDCIDC would coordinate in setting up offices in all the districts with a provision for accommodation for support staff, groundstaff and former cricketers who would be asked to conduct workshops as part of the efforts to promote the game in a big way.
“Yes, we have informed the district officials to identify suitable grounds and offices over the next couple of weeks. First priority would be given to the affiliated units like Mahabubnagar, Karimnagar which have their own infrastructure,” Mr. Seshnarayan said.
“Rayudu (former India cricket Ambati Rayudu who is now the Head of Cricket Operations, HCA) has already charted out a plan of action to take the game into the interiors of the districts by setting up zonal academies,” the former HCA Secretary said.
“And, as part of the efforts, T-10 tournaments will be held at the zonal level to give another platform,” he said.
“The success of TG20 League recently has only encouraged us to look far beyond the twin cities in the State and tap the abundance of talent,” Mr Seshnarayan said.
“Yes, right now only a few districts are playing in the HCA Leagues. Once all the district units are formed as per the HCA Constitution, we will try our best to give representation to all of them in the Leagues,” he said.
