Hyderabad: Even though the differences between president Mohd Azharuddin and other Apex Council members continues to persist, the former has agreed to convene the much-awaited Apex Council meeting on Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 pm at Uppal Stadium.

Interestingly, some of the listed agenda meeting which was sent by secretary R Vijayananda was modified by Azharuddin. According to Vijayanand, which he mentioned in the letter sent to all Apex Council members it said of confirmation of minutes of the 8th Apex Council meeting, to hold Annual General Meeting on March 28, finalization of tenders, Vinoo Mankad Trophy among others.

However, Azharuddin, said the single point for the Emergency Meeting is for discussion for the betterment of Hyderabad cricket like to have an academy and other issues. Azharuddin felt that the Vinoo Mankad selectors’ selection is to be discussed at the Annual General Meeting. He also reportedly said there could be no discussion of finalization of tenders in this meeting.

The latest development could spark a heated debate in the Wednesday’s meeting.

Meanwhile, even as there is a lot of uncertainty over selection of Hyderabad under-19 team continued, Yo-Yo fitness was conducted in the selection trials. Out of the 336 players, 240 passed the minimum endurance qualification mark of 16.1 in the test conducted at Uppal Stadium.

After the parents cried foul over selections for the Vijay Hazare one-day tournament and even went to the Human Rights Commission, the HCA, according to Vijayanand took these steps for a free and fair selection to the Hyderabad team for the Vinoo Mankad tournament. “We faced a lot of criticism. So we invited all two-day and three-day under-19 players to the camp. We conducted Yo-Yo test so that there could be no complaints on the fitness of players.’’

He said a two-member technical committee grievance cell– Shiv Kumar and Krishnaiah Naidu — was put in charge for the selection trials. “This is the first phase and in the second phase we have called senior players like Jyothi Prasad, Abdul Azeem and Ethesham Ali Khan in conducting the nets. We will have a total of two more senior players for the camp. These five senior players will watch these 200 players in the nets and they will select about 80 to 90 players for trial matches,’’ said Vijayanand.
