Nalgonda: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Tuesday said the State government was providing the same quality of health services to migrant labourers from other States that was being provided to the locals.

Speaking after inaugurating a 30-bed hospital at the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant set up at a cost of Rs 30 lakhs for workers, Jagadish Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was working according to a plan on public health and developed government hospitals on par with corporate hospitals. “It has restored confidence among the people on the health services provide in government hospitals resulting in an increase in the number of in-patients and out-patients,” he said.

Stating that power generation at the thermal power plant was targetted to commence by 2022, the Minister said the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on the progress of project works. “Some panic-stricken migrant workers returned to their native places. The 30-bed hospital was set up at the project site to instill confidence among the workers.  About 8,000 workers from various States are involved in the execution of works of the thermal power plant,” he said.

COVID vaccination was completed for 1,000 workers and the remaining would also be vaccinated soon, he maintained. Presently, 4,000 workers are working at the project site and the remaining have also agreed to return to their jobs which would ensure that the project works will be on full steam, he added.

He said that beds with oxygen facility would also be available in the hospital for Covid patients.

Chairman and Managing Director of Genco Devulapally Prabhakar Rao and others also attended the programme.
