Taking to his Instagram page, Gautham shared: “From a headache to a fever to dengue to being hospitalised for 10 days… safe to say, I have survived with flying colors! It’s times like these that you realise health takes priority over EVERYTHING else! Stay healthy. Stay safe.”
On the work front, Gautham is currently shooting for director Sooriyaprathap’s sci-fi crime thriller ROOT – Running Out of Time. The team recently wrapped up its first shooting schedule.
The film marks the Tamil debut of Bollywood actor Aparshakti Khurana, celebrated for his performances in Hindi blockbusters. Actress Bhavya Trikha plays the female lead, while veteran actor Y. Gee. Mahendran will be seen in a pivotal role.
Produced by Dhanishtan Fernando, Rajarajan Gananasambandam, Sanjai Shankar, and Shaik Mujeeb under the Verus Productions banner, the film is billed as an edge-of-the-seat thriller.
Director Sooriyaprathap expressed excitement after completing the first schedule: “The energy between Gautham and Aparshakti on screen is electric, and the Chennai backdrop has added a distinct texture to the film.”
Sooriyaprathap, known for Naalaiya Iyakkunar – Season 1 and his work on Kochadaiiyaan, described ROOT as a passion project blending sci-fi elements with emotionally resonant characters. He praised Gautham for bringing “powerful presence and depth” to the role of a police officer.
The film’s cinematography is by Arjun Raja, music by Vithushanan, and action choreography by Miracle Michael.
