Adilabad: Several parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district saw scorching heatwave conditions on Tuesday.

Adilabad district recorded an average maximum temperature of 41.8 degrees Celsius. Tamsi, Bela, Bhoraj, Thalamadugu and Sathnala mandals recorded temperatures between 39 and 42 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperatures in Asifabad, Dahegaon, Bejjur, Tiryani, Kerameri, Thanur, Khanapur, Mamada, Bhainsa, Nennal, Bheemini, Mancherial and Kannepalli mandals were over 41 degrees Celsius.

Due to the unusual sweltering heatwave conditions prevailing in the middle of April, people were forced to remain indoors and stay hydrated. Roads wore a deserted look in towns. Farmers suspended farm operations. They relied on fresh juices, coconuts, ice apples and buttermilk to beat the heat.
