Hyderabad: A red heat wave warning has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad for multiple districts in Telangana State for the coming four-days, as of Wednesday evening. The IMD-Hyderabad red classification indicates not only a heat wave warning but also entails warm nights wherein minimum temperature continue to remain unusually high and very high likelihood of people developing heat illness and heat strokes across all age groups. The IMD-Hyderabad has advised that extreme care is needed for vulnerable age groups.

The districts for which red alert heat wave warning has been issued till Saturday include Adilabad, Jagtial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Karimnagar, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Mulugu, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli and Rajanna Sircilla.

In addition to the red alert, the IMD-Hyderabad has also issued heat wave and warm night conditions warning for all districts of Telangana till Saturday. In these districts, while day time temperatures are likely to remain above 44 degree Celsius, the night time temperatures are expected to remain unusually high. The temperatures during day and night will remain significantly higher than normal, a combination which is quite risky, as it involves exposing the human body to a prolonged period of heat stress.

At Asifabad (Kumram Bheem Asifabad) the maximum temperature was 44.2 degree Celsius while Kotgiri in Nizamabad recorded 44 degree Celsius.
