Heavy rainfall continues to wreak havoc in AP, former CM’s house at risk
Officials lifted three crest gates of the Kalyani dam and released water downstream which led to flash floods across Chandragiri, Tirupati, and Srikalahasti assembly constituencies on Friday.
Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall triggering flash floods for the last two days has left behind a trail of destruction across Andhra Pradesh. Tirumala was caught in a massive flood on Thursday, leaving hundreds of pilgrims stranded.
Officials lifted three crest gates of the Kalyani dam and released water downstream which led to flash floods across Chandragiri, Tirupati, and Srikalahasti assembly constituencies on Friday.
The link bridge between Tiruchanoor and Pudi was washed away in the Swarnamukhi river floodwaters in the early hours on Friday, cutting off road connectivity to several villages in the Tirupati rural Mandal. Some portion of the Kapila Theertham temple was washed away.
Hundreds of vehicles were caught up in long traffic snarls at the Tirumala bypass road, Karakambadi road, West church junction, AIR bypass road, and other parts of the city.
The house of former AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is also at the risk of being flooded.
