Heavy rains flood several areas in Hyderabad’s old city
Heavy rains flooded multiple areas in Hyderabad’s old city on Wednesday, affecting homes, roads and markets. Authorities advised residents in low-lying and vulnerable buildings to stay alert and relocate to safer places if required.

Hyderabad: Several areas in the old city were affected following heavy rains on Wednesday.
Complaints of water entering into the house in low lying areas of Yakutpura, Lalithabagh, Afzalsagar, Ghousenagar, Shaheennagar, were reported to the authorities.
Several thoroughfares such as Falaknuma, Tallabkatta, Dabeerpura, Khilwat, Shastripuram junction, Bandlaguda were flooded with water. Motorists faced tough moments negotiating through the flooded roads.
The market wore a near deserted look with people avoiding venturing out unless for necessary work. The shopkeepers opened the shops late in the morning and are expected to close down early and return home.
Meanwhile, the Jalpally municipality officials issued an advisory to the residents asking them to be alert and immediately shift to safer places if they are staying close to water bodies or in dilapidated buildings.
