Hyderabad: Several areas in the old city were affected following heavy rains on Wednesday.

Complaints of water entering into the house in low lying areas of Yakutpura, Lalithabagh, Afzalsagar, Ghousenagar, Shaheennagar, were reported to the authorities.

Several thoroughfares such as Falaknuma, Tallabkatta, Dabeerpura, Khilwat, Shastripuram junction, Bandlaguda were flooded with water. Motorists faced tough moments negotiating through the flooded roads.

The market wore a near deserted look with people avoiding venturing out unless for necessary work. The shopkeepers opened the shops late in the morning and are expected to close down early and return home.
