Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad on Tuesday issued a heavy rainfall alert for multiple districts of Telangana between October 24 and 26 due to the weather systems over Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.
The districts for which the heavy rainfall warning has been issued include Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.
For Hyderabad and its surrounding districts, including Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Yaadri-Bhongir, Kamareddy and other districts, including Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon and Siddipet, the IMD-Hyderabad has indicated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds between Wednesday, October 22 and October 26.
According to IMD-New Delhi, an upper air cyclonic circulation over the South Andaman Sea and adjoining Bay of Bengal is likely to evolve into a low-pressure area around October 21, with a strong possibility of intensifying further into a Depression over the South and Central Bay of Bengal by October 23. This developing system is expected to significantly enhance rainfall along the eastern coastline.
As a result, apart from several areas of coastal AP, parts of Telangana too are likely to witness heavy rainfall in the coming days, the IMD indicated.
“Massive rains in Andhra Pradesh due to the low-pressure area. The same system will bring moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of Telangana,” noted independent weather tracker, T Balaji, on X posted.
