Kumram Bheem Asifabad/Adilabad: Both Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Adilabad districts witnessed moderate to heavy rains on Wednesday night, bringing cheer to the farming community.

According to a weather report on the website of the Telangana Development Planning Society, the average rainfall in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district was recorded at 40.9 mm, while Sirpur (T), Koutala and Chintalamanepalli mandals registered over 100 mm of rainfall. Wankidi and Kerameri mandals received 62 mm and 53.8 mm of rainfall respectively.

The district’s actual rainfall was 210 mm as against the normal rainfall of 205 mm from June 1 to July 1. The average rainfall in Adilabad district was measured at 18.6 mm. Bela mandal recorded the highest rainfall of 55.9 mm. Bheempur, Jainad, Adilabad Rural, Mavala, Thamsi, Adilabad Urban and Gadiguda mandals received between 20 mm and 36 mm of rainfall.

Farmers across the two districts were delighted by the rains and intensified farming operations. They said the showers breathed life into cotton, soy and other crop saplings that were on the verge of withering due to the prolonged dry spell. They opined that the downpours had prevented losses in agriculture.
