Heavy rains: Siddipet Police rescue two men stranded on Mittapally bridge

The police led by Three Town inspector Praveen Kumar reached the spot after they were alerted by the locals

Heavy rains: Siddipet Police rescue two men stranded on Mittapally bridge
Two men stranded amidst a stream in full spate at Mittapally bridge in Siddipet district on Monday.

Siddipet: Siddipet police rescued two persons who were stranded on Mittapally bridge which was overflowing with water from a swollen stream following heavy rains on Monday.

The police led by Three Town inspector Praveen Kumar reached the spot after they were alerted by the locals. They pulled the car out of the stream with the help of a towing vehicle.


According to Praveen Kumar, Kudavelly Santosh and Muram Bhanu, residents of Shivaji Nagar in Siddipet town, were proceeding towards Warangal. Since the stream was in full spate, the car stalled on the bridge. The police team rescued them, and also suspended traffic on the route since the stream was in spate. With the district witnessing heavy rains in the last 24 hours, several streams were in spate and irrigation tanks were overflowing across Siddipet district.

Karimnagar receives moderate to heavy rainfall

Karimnagar: Erstwhile Karimnagar district experienced moderate to heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, with Malliala of Illandakunta mandal recording the highest rainfall of 112.8 mm. Jammikunta recorded 110.8 mm followed by Veenavanka-101.8 mm, Kothapalli-Dharmaram-94.3 mm, Kothagattu-77.8 mm and Tadikal-59.5 mm of rainfall.

While Gangipalli received 35.5 mm rain, Karimnagar town got 32.6 mm, Chigurumamidi-31.0 mm, and Durshad-28.6 mm of rainfall.
