Hyderabad: Despite being a non-working day, people had to once again endure frustration and anger as heavy rains, with some areas receiving 12.4 cm rainfall in a short span, pummeled the city on Sunday night.
Much like in the past few months, Hyderabadis were miserable with the heavy downpour inundating roads and low-lying areas. About six localities in and around core areas of Secunderabad received anywhere from 10 cm to 12.8 cm of rainfall.
With Sunday being a holiday, a large number of families had ventured out. However, by evening, almost all of them were regretting, as main roads got quickly inundated with waist-deep water.
“We had to wait till 11 pm for the rain to relent to start from Punjagutta and go back to our home in Vidyanagar. The struggle to travel was real, as water inundation was everywhere and there were traffic jams. We reached home at 12.30 am,” said Jeevan Kumar, a private employee from Vidyanagar.
