Tirumala: Tirumala is witnessing a heavy rush of devotees due to a series of holidays coinciding with the month of Peratasi. On Saturday, the Vaikuntam Queue Complex-1 and 2 and the Narayanagiri sheds were filled with devotees.
The queue extended for about five kilometres along the ring road, reaching the Octopus Junction and Pachikalva Gangamma Temple. The heavy rush has resulted in an increased waiting time for devotees.
Meanwhile, devotees waiting at the Octopus building for all-day darshan are facing difficulties due to the heat during the afternoon. Earlier, TTD had installed sheet sheds along this route when the pilgrim rush was high. However, the sheds were removed after the crowds decreased. With the rush increasing again and temperatures remaining high, devotees are facing inconvenience.
Officials said the waiting time for all-day darshan was around 18 hours.
On Friday, 78,445 devotees had darshan of Srivari, while the hundi collections stood at Rs. 4.30 crore.
According to officials, around 2.9 crore devotees had visited Tirumala till September this year. The highest monthly footfall was recorded in May, when 25.46 lakh devotees visited, while February recorded the lowest, with 19.34 lakh devotees.
