Hyderabad: Following India’s strong military response to the Pahalgam terror attack—which claimed the lives of 26 tourists—several world leaders have responded to ‘Operation Sindoor’, carried out in parts of Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the early hours of Wednesday.

Among the first to express full support, Israel has backed India’s right to self-defense. Kobbi Shoshani, Israel’s Consul General, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and lauded the operation’s name, posting on X: “What an inspiring name, ‘Sindoor’.”

France indicated a sympathetic stance, stating that it “understands India’s actions against terrorism.” Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump refrained from endorsing the operation outright, instead calling for restraint and describing the India-Pakistan conflict as “a shame,” rooted in historic animosity. He expressed hope for a peaceful resolution.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed this sentiment, urging both nations to avoid escalation and stating that the U.S. would engage diplomatically with officials from both countries.

Indian-American Congressman Shri Thanedar extended his support for India’s right to defend itself and advocated for stronger U.S.-India cooperation in combating terrorism. However, he cautioned against war, emphasizing that it is “not a solution.”

Friendly nations including the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were briefed by Indian officials, though none issued direct endorsements. The UAE urged restraint and diplomacy to maintain regional stability. Similarly, Russia has been diplomatically engaged, but the Kremlin’s public position remains neutral for now.

Domestic Support Across Party Lines
Domestically, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and several opposition leaders—such as former Telangana CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao, BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao, Tejashwi Yadav, and Aditya Thackeray—voiced strong support for Operation Sindoor.

State leaders, including Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, also extended their backing, uniting across political lines in a rare show of national consensus.
