Signal has been trending on all social media platforms after Whatsapp updated its private policy this year and revelead its data-sharing policy with Facebook.
Signal, a cross-platform encrypted messaging service was developed by a non-profit organisation, Signal Foundation, set up by former WhatsApp co-founder Brien Acton who left WhatsApp in 2017. It uses standard cellular telephone numbers as identifiers and secures all communications to other Signal users

Tesla CEO Elon Musk asked his followers on Twitter to join Signal, which is an alternative to texting apps like WhatsApp, Facebook messenger etc.
