Hyderabad: Hyderabad Football Club have three different results in as many matches in the ongoing Indian Super League. Having lost their first clash against Chennaiyin FC 0-1, Hyderabad stunned defending champions Mumbai City FC 3-1 in their second game. They drew with Jamshedpur FC 1-all in their previous match.
Facing another tough challenge against Bengluru FC on Wednesday, the HFC coach Manolo Marquez says they are looking for consistency in results. Speaking on the eve of their match, the 53-year-old Spaniard said the competition in the league is such that it is difficult to come out victorious in all games. “Every team in the league is very strong and hence the different results so far. The champion of the league will be decided in the final stages. But we are looking to improve each game,” he said.
He also says the team’s reaction after conceding the first goal against Jamshedpur in their last match is a good sign. “When you are a goal down, it is easy to get demoralised. But the way we bounced back in the second half, it was impressive. We reacted well in all games despite conceding the first goal.”
He also rated Bengaluru FC as a strong contender and will have their task cut out. “Bengaluru FC are difficult opponents. They have some big names of Indian football as well as some talented youngsters. I like the style of the Bengaluru team. The coach is very brave. They play a lot of attacking game with many players in the opponent’s box. It will be an interesting game,” he added.
Speaking on the form of Bengaluru, the Spanish coach opined that they are also in a similar situation. “Bengaluru have also started well but lost two matches. More or less, they are also fighting for consistency. They played well against Mumbai but lost the game.”
When asked about their specific plans against the Sunil Chhetri-led side, he said, “Every team in ISL has a different style of game. Bengaluru are a very dangerous team in attack. So, we can’t change much of our game style. We have to believe that the style of play we practice will give results.” The coach hoped that Bartholomew Ogbech, who found two goals in three matches, would play a key role going ahead. “From a player like him, we expect more goals. Two goals from three matches is good. He has vast experience. He will be crucial,” he asserted.
