Khammam: BRS district president, MLC Tata Madhusudhan, in a scathing attack on the Congress government asserted that it has suffered a slap in the face with the High Court verdict on the PC Ghose Commission report on the Kaleshwaram project.
The government, unable to politically confront the architect of Telangana statehood, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, had attempted to tarnish his reputation through fabricated inquiry commissions.
Speaking at a media conference here on Thursday he said the court verdict exposed the conspiracies hatched by the Revanth Reddy government against Chandrashekhar Rao. The BRS government completed the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, the largest of its kind in the world, in just three years, thereby transforming Telangana into fertile land.
When merely two pillars at Medigadda subsided slightly, the Congress launched a malicious propaganda campaign against the entire project. Revanth Reddy was a traitor, who lacked the competence to store water, and opened the Medigadda gates allowing the water to drain into the sea creating water scarcity currently plaguing the State, Madhusudhan said.
Commissions such as the Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission and the Justice PC Ghose Commission were constituted with the sole objective of harassing Chandrashekhar Rao and former Minister T Harish Rao, he noted.
The Court questioned the propriety of unilaterally preparing reports without providing even the minimum statutory notice or hearing the defence side in violation of Section 8 of the 1952 Inquiry Act. The High Court’s verdict serves as a stern lesson to Revanth Reddy, who used former judges as pawns to gain political mileage, the BRS leader said.
It was unfortunate that Revanth Reddy, who during the statehood movement aimed his gun at Telangana activists, has become the Chief Minister of the State. Revanth Reddy was only interested in hurling invectives and damaging the interests of Telangana by forging clandestine agreements with the rulers of neighbouring States rather than focusing on governance, he added.
BRS leaders K Nagabhushanam, Bellam Venugopal, Pagadala Nagaraju, Uppala Venkata Ramana, Tajuddin, M Venkatappa Rao and others were present.
