Hyderabad: Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) Chairman Prof. V Balakista Reddy underscored the importance of language in safeguarding India’s cultural heritage and fostering national unity. Speaking at an Official Language Conference in Hyderabad, he stressed that while Hindi holds significance in official communication, India’s true strength lies in its linguistic diversity, which must be preserved and promoted alongside Hindi.

Hyderabad: Telangana Council of Higher Education Chairman Prof. V Balakista Reddy highlighted the vital role of language in preserving India’s cultural heritage, strengthening national unity and promoting inclusive education.

Participating in a one-day Official Language conference organised by the Directorate of National Service Scheme here on Friday, Prof. Reddy said Hindi has an important place in the country’s official communication framework, while India’s greatest strength lies in its rich linguistic diversity.

The promotion of Hindi, he emphasised, should go hand in hand with the respect, preservation and promotion of all Indian languages.

Prof. Reddy observed that languages are not merely instruments of communication but also carry the knowledge, history, traditions, values and intellectual heritage of communities. Every Indian language contributes to India’s collective identity and knowledge ecosystem, he said.

He encouraged students and youth to learn multiple Indian languages while also developing proficiency in English and other global languages.

Sanskriti Shastri, Youth Officer, Directorate of National Service Scheme, Prof. N. Nagaraju, Vice-Chancellor, English and Foreign Languages University and R. Saida, Regional Director, Hyderabad among others also participated in the event.
