Hyderabad: In a boost to India’s electronics manufacturing services sector, Japanese semiconductor giant Hirata Corporation has announced a strategic partnership with Hyderabad-based ATS India.
Under the agreement, Hyderabad-based ATS (Automated Tooling Systems) India will serve as the exclusive distributor to bring Hirata’s advanced semiconductor equipment and automation technology portfolio to the domestic market.
The collaboration addresses a critical gap by providing Indian manufacturers with local access to globally benchmarked backend equipment, including Equipment Front End Modules, panel handling robots, and high-performance wafer handling systems. By eliminating cross-border logistics hurdles and delayed support, the partnership aims to accelerate automation across outsourced semiconductor assembly and test operations.
Kishen Kavikondala, CEO of Hyderabad-based ATS India, said that the initiative builds on a decade-long relationship across other sectors, targeting precision manufacturing solutions as India’s semiconductor ecosystem matures toward a multi-million-dollar opportunity by 2030.
John Derzy, Vice President of Hirata Corporation of America, emphasised that introducing advanced automation will fundamentally transform Indian manufacturing capabilities. Aligned with government initiatives, the alliance supports India’s broader vision of building a self-reliant, globally competitive manufacturing ecosystem as the EMS market scales.
