Hyderabad: The redevelopment of Hitec City Railway Station under the Railway Ministry’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) is in its final stages, with South Central Railway authorities expediting efforts to commission the upgraded facility soon.

The station, which primarily serves Hyderabad’s IT corridor, has been undergoing a major transformation aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and improving connectivity.

Railway officials said the project is nearing completion, with most of the civil and passenger amenity works already finished.

The redevelopment has been taken up at an estimated cost of about Rs 35.61 crore in two phases. The station handles around 6,000 passengers daily and is served by more than 60 MMTS and suburban train services, with higher patronage during weekends.

Key works completed include a modern station building, a 12-metre-wide foot over bridge with ramps, lifts, escalators, Divyangjan-friendly facilities, additional platform shelters and upgraded toilet blocks. Passenger circulation areas, signage and train information systems have also been improved.

As part of the makeover, the station is being equipped with better lighting, upgraded parking facilities, improved access points and environmentally sustainable features.

Officials said the redeveloped station will feature a contemporary façade and enhanced passenger amenities in line with the vision of creating modern railway hubs.

Railway authorities had earlier explored the possibility of inaugurating the station during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Hyderabad.

However, the launch was deferred due to unavoidable reasons. The station is now expected to be opened to the public shortly.

The Hitec City station is among several railway stations in the Hyderabad region being redeveloped under ABSS.

*Entrance portico development

*Foot over bridge with lifts and escalators
