Hyderabad: Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar in the presence of MA&UD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar inaugurated clay idol distribution programme on Friday.

The State government is planning to distribute 70,000 clay idols through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to promote eco-friendly idols. The clay idols will be distributed to the public free of cost from September 4 to 10.

This year, the festival will commence from September 10 and conclude with idol immersion on September 19. The clay idols will be distributed from 30 centres across Hyderabad and four vans will also be used for the purpose of distribution. Individuals neding more than 100 clay idols can personally contact the HMDA office.
