Sangareddy: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) General Manager (Engineering) A Ramakrishna on Sunday dismissed as false the reports of malfunctioning of crest gates at the Manjeera dam.
With the news going viral, Ramakrishna, along with Superintending Engineer Brijesh and AGM Azeesuddin, inspected the dam and personally verified the gates. After interacting with the staff posted at the site, he confirmed that all crest gates were functioning properly.
He said they were releasing 15,000 cusecs of water downstream by lifting two crest gates and through a vent. Since August 13, when heavy inflows were received from upstream, 28 TMC ft of water had already been released.
Ramakrishna clarified that there was no threat to any crest gate as of now and assured that operations were being carried out without technical issues. “We will close or open the crest gates as required. Once the inflows recede, the gates will be shut,” he added.
