Hyderabad: HMWSSB officials repaired a damaged air valve on the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Scheme Phase-2 pipeline and resumed drinking water supply to affected areas in Hyderabad.
The air valve, installed about 20 feet from the main road near Nagole Metro Station pillar number 813, close to Uppal Bagayath, was damaged after a car crashed into its iron safety barricade around 4 am, on Tuesday.
The collision severely damaged the protective fence and valve, causing a major water leakage. Transmission officials immediately stopped the relevant pumps and controlled the water flow, said a press release.
Officials and technical staff from the Transmission, Operations and Maintenance departments reached the site, mobilised machinery and carried out uninterrupted restoration work.
The damaged valve system was repaired within five hours, stopping the leakage. The pipeline was subsequently restored and drinking water supply resumed, said the press release.
