Hyderabad: The HMWSSB has introduced barcode tracking for its water tankers to curb misuse.
HMWSSB Managing Director K Ashok Reddy on Thursday visited a few filling stations in the city amid rising tanker demand and said the barcode system is mainly to prevent misuse during tanker trips and ensure that tanker operations are monitored round the clock and carried out as intended.
He also said CCTV cameras were installed at every filling station and connected to the main office in Khairatabad to track the movement of tankers. Strict action would be taken against any misuse in tanker bookings, he said.
Due to high demand for tanker bookings at Kondapur, Madhapur, Ayyappa Society, Banjara Hills, and Somajiguda filling stations, he directed officials to monitor them round the clock. He suggested organising tanker deliveries in two shifts to avoid any backlog.
