Hyderabad: Officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) were instructed to remain vigilant around hotspots, manholes, drains and drainage systems, and to ensure public safety.

On Wednesday, HMWSSB Managing Director K Ashok Reddy visited several vulnerable locations and reviewed the de-watering, flood prevention, drainage maintenance and desilting operations.

In Krishna Nagar, he reviewed the drainage line, stormwater discharge improvements and sewage flow channel upgrades taken up to resolve the recurring waterlogging issue faced during the monsoon over the past two years.

At Punjagutta, Ashok Reddy instructed officials to continuously monitor rainwater accumulation in all hotspot areas across the city and directed them to deploy dewatering pumps immediately wherever water collected on roads and remove it on an emergency basis. He said any obstruction affecting drainage flow must be addressed without delay.

Officials at all levels were directed to remain available on the ground and stay alert regarding hotspots, manholes, drains and drainage systems and ensure the public did not face inconvenience.
