Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is initiating a series of measures to safeguard the life and health of workers involved in maintaining the sewerage network in the city. These measures include social audit of sewerage management works, forming technical teams and organising workshops for workers.
HMWSSB Managing Director Dana Kishore on Friday held a meeting on the safety measures being taken for safety of workers and said, “a workshop will be held for workers maintaining the sewerage network from August 16 to 30.”
The water board in a press release said that as part of the workshop, the workers will be briefed about Do’s and Don’ts to be followed while doing works related to sewerage management. The workers will also be briefed about precautionary measures that need to be taken and the standard operating procedure to be followed.
Workers will also be briefed about the usage of emergency life-saving equipment. Dana Kishore also instructed that the HMWSSB managers should hold one workshop exclusively with workers looking after sewerage works and ensure that they are equipped with safety gear.
