Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Sunday announced plans to release floodwater from the Singur project and issued an alert to residents in the affected areas. The authorities have urged people living downstream to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as the water levels are expected to rise.

Due to rainfall in the upstream areas of the Singur project, 15,000 cusecs of floodwater are entering the project. Consequently, floodwater will be released downstream through the project gates today.
