Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Suply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has warned of strict action against anyone attempting to encroach on its land and premises.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, when the water board officials sought to fence their 8072 square meters land in Mahindra Hills, a local person resisted claiming the land to be theirs. The water board senior officials too were confronted when they along with vigilance team, went to inspect the site.

Following this, the HMWSSB registered a complaint with police and the mandal revenue officials who inspected the land and confirmed that it belonged to the water board.

Meanwhile, a criminal case was registered against a person who illegally collected money from a tanker driver working under the water board.

According to a press release, Arra Saikumar alias Sairam claiming to be working in the vigilance department called a private tanker driver and demanded Rs.20,000 on the pretext that the tanker was working against the rules of the board. Later he collected Rs.3,000 thousand from the driver.

The vigilance wing took up an investigation and filed a complaint in Khairatabad police station. As a result, a criminal case was registered against the suspect.
