Hyderabad: In a surprise crackdown on drug abuse, the Hyderabad Task Force and the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) conducted medical screening of rowdy sheeters and suspected drug users across the city on Wednesday.
The drive, carried out on the directions of VC Sajjanar, covered multiple government hospitals. Out of 204 individuals tested, 87 were found positive for drug consumption.
Officials said those who tested positive will face legal action under relevant laws. Participants were also counselled by psychiatrists on the dangers of drug abuse and the need for rehabilitation.
Police said such drives will continue to curb drug-related activities while promoting awareness and recovery among users.
