Honeymoon period of Revanth Reddy completed, time to wage agitation: Harish Rao
Harish Rao said before the elections, Rahul Gandhi had begged for votes from unemployed youth after visiting libraries, but now the Congress government was resorting to lathicharges on job aspirants.
Karimnagar: Stating that the honeymoon period of the Congress government was over, senior BRS leader and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao emphasised the need to launch agitation against the state government’s failures. The Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had made tall promises in the presence of the AICC leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, but he had failed to implement them.
Speaking at an Alai-Balai programme organised by former legislator Rasamai Balakishan in Thimmapur on Sunday, Harish Rao said before the elections, Rahul Gandhi had begged for votes from unemployed youth after visiting libraries, but now the Congress government was resorting to lathicharges on job aspirants. He challenged Revanth Reddy to visit any library without security.
He wanted to know why the government was not abolishing GO 29 and creating hurdles for constitutional opportunities. While Rahul Gandhi was touring the country holding a copy of the constitution, Revanth Reddy was damaging it, he alleged.
On the Musi beautification, he sought to know how the government, which was claiming that there was no money to implement welfare schemes and promises made to the public, was now planning to spend Rs 1.50 lakh crore on the Musi project. While they were raising voice on behalf of the poor, Revanth Reddy was making personal comments and threats on him and BRS working president KT Rama Rao. Stating that there was no question of bowing to threats, he made it clear that agitation would continue until the promises made were implemented. The overenthusiastic police officers would have to face legal cases as Revanth Reddy’s government was not permanent, he said.
On the farmers issues, he said that the farming community was duped by Revanth Reddy, who promised to give Rs 15,000 Rythu Bharosa for an acre of land, if the congress was voted to power. But in reality, even th Rs 10,000 given by the BRS government was discontinued now, forget the Rs 15,000, he pointed out. He reminded that the KCR govenment had not stopped the Rytu Bandhu assistance even during the covid pandemic outbreak.
Terming Revanth Reddy as an anti-farmer CM, the legislator called upon the farming community to unite and wage an agitation against the government. Revanth Reddy should realize the power of farmers. Revanth Reddy would not also pay the rytu bharosa money during Rabi season also, he opined. The CM, who promised to give Rs 500 bonus to paddy, has changed his voice on the issue and put condition stating that bonus would be given to the paddy that was sold in paddy purchasing centers set up by the government.
Talking about crop loan waiver, Harish Rao wanted Revanth Reddy to visit Manakondur village to know whether loan of a single farmer was waived. Before assembly elections, he promised to waive loans on December 9, 2023 and during parliament poll, put another date of August 15. Now, he was promising to complete the loan waiver by December 9, 2024 that too only for three lakh farmers.
