Hyderabad: A Randomised Control Trial (RCT) study on coronary artery bypass surgery, which was conducted by senior CT surgeon from Star Hospitals, Dr Lokeswara Rao Sajja, has received global attention when it was included in the latest updated meta-analysis of Coronary Bypass Surgery, published in February 2022 issue of the International Journal of Surgery of Elsevier Publishing Company, a press release said.
The RCT study of the CT surgeon, who called-upon Health Minister, T Harish Rao here on Sunday, is part of the 16 RCTs that were published between 2003 and 2020 all over the world and were included in the meta-analysis.
During the interaction, Harish Rao congratulated Dr Sajja for his unique achievement and assured support to such cutting-edge research in the field of medical science, press release said.
Dr Sajja said that more than 50 per cent of patients undergoing bypass heart surgery are diabetics in India and Indian surgeons have good surgical expertise in conducting bypass surgery on beating heart.
When it came to coronary artery bypass surgery and surgical research, India is on par with the rest of the world, Dr Sajja, who is also founder president of Society of Coronary Surgeons and has over 75 peer-reviewed publications, said.
