Hyderabad: Senior paediatric cardiologist from Rainbow Children’s Heart Institute, Dr Nageswara Rao Koneti has been elected as Founding Fellow of The PICS Society (The Pediatric and Congenital Interventional Cardiovascular Society), a press release said.
Founding Fellowship in The PICS Society is a globally recognized mark of excellence in this highly specialised field, Rainbow Hospitals said. “Dr Koneti is dedicated to providing the best possible care for patients of all ages born with congenital heart disease. We congratulate him for the achievement,” PICS Society president Ziyad M. Hijazi, said.
Dr Nageswara Rao Koneti has developed a novel technique of closing ventricular septal defects in the heart i.e. hole in between two ventricles, the press release said. Dr Rao is also credited with performing first fetal cardiac intervention in the country and has developed a new device for closure of ventricular septal defects. He has already published over 80 papers in indexed journals, the release added.
