Mancherial: A warden of a government-run SC hostel-Bellampalli was suspended for negligence in providing treatment to an ailing student that resulted in her death recently. An order to this effect was issued by Deputy Director, Scheduled Caste Development Department, P Ravinder Reddy, here on Friday.
According to the order, the warden, G Sujatha, was placed under suspension as per a prima-facie report submitted by the Assistant Social Welfare Officer.
It may be recalled that Bathula Manisha, a Class IX student and a boarder at the hostel, died while undergoing treatment at Mancherial district headquarters hospital on February 13. Sujatha, who was aware of Manisha’s health condition neither informed the higher officials nor shifted her to the local primary health centre in Bellampalli.
This showed her negligence and was one of the reasons for the death of the student, the order said. The warden left the hostel on February 11 before afternoon and deployed a watchwoman. The watchwomen called an RMP who advised her to shift Manisha to a hospital in Mancherial. Parents of the girl managed to rush her to Mancherial, but she died in the hospital.
