Housing board official dies during property sealing drive in Mehdipatnam

A Telangana Housing Board officer died after a scuffle erupted during a property sealing drive in Mehdipatnam. Officials alleged that the lessee brought in bouncers to obstruct the operation. Police registered a case and are investigating the incident.

Hyderabad: An official of Telangana Housing Board died after allegedly being attacked during a scuffle that broke out while sealing a property at Mehdipatnam on Saturday morning.

R Jagadishwar Rao, (52), who worked as Assistant Estate Officer in Telangana Housing Board along with his colleagues had gone to MP Function Hall located at Mehdipatnam in the morning.


The housing board had obtained an order from the court in their favour and went to take possession of the function hall.

“One Khaja Ishaquddin, has to clear an arrears of Rs. 1.22 crores to the board. The lease expired in 2014 and since there was a case in the court. The judgement was given in favour of the housing board and after informing the police we went to the place to seal it,” said a senior official of Telangana Housing Board.

The team had locked one of the three gates of the function hall and were trying to lock the second gate when tension erupted.

During the jostling, Jagadishwar Rao fell down and was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The housing board officials said that Khaja Ishaquddin had gathered bouncers to prevent the officials from performing their duty.

The Asifnagar police on information reached the spot and started investigation. A case is registered.
