Sangareddy: It used to be two to five or ten offerings every day. However, devotees in the erstwhile Medak district appear to have set a new trend this year by offering 151 varieties of naivedyams to appease the Lord. In some villages, there were 51 and 101 offerings too.

Though the devotees do not know who exactly began this trend, everyone began following it. On Tuesday, the last day of festivities, the devotees of Pedda Shanaramapet made 102 prasadams which include 51 hot and 51 sweet varieties.

Madhava Nagar Colony Ganesh Utsava committee made these prasadams in Pedda Shankarampet. The devotees of Sikh Wada in Sangareddy town made 51 offerings on Monday while another utsava committee in Chinna Shankarampet offered 101 prasadams on Sunday. The ustava committees across the erstwhile Medak had followed this trend this year throughout the festivities.

The women members of the utsava committee had actively participated in making various offerings to Lord Ganesha to appease him. It had indeed become a challenge for the devotees to make so many varieties of sweets and hot. G Chaitanya, a woman devotee from Sangareddy, said that they indeed enjoyed the challenge of making so many varieties of prasadams.
