HPS Society felicitates Padma Shri awardee Dr G Venkat Rao
The Hyderabad Public School Society felicitated Padma Shri awardee Dr G. Venkat Rao for his outstanding contributions to medicine and healthcare. The HPS alumnus and AIG Hospitals director was praised for his pioneering work in gastrointestinal and oncological surgeries.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Public School Society here on Thursday felicitated its alumnus Dr G Venkat Rao for his contributions to the field of medicine and healthcare.
Dr Rao, Director of AIG Hospitals and Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, serves as Chief of Surgical Gastroenterology, GI Oncology, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic Surgery, and Transplantation Services.
An alumnus of the Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur, from the batch of 1976, Dr Rao has earned national and international recognition for his pioneering work in advanced gastrointestinal and oncological surgeries. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to medicine and healthcare, Dr Rao was conferred the Padma Shri.
HPS Society president Gusti J Noria said Dr Rao’s achievements are a matter of pride for the entire HPS community. “His journey from being a student of this institution to receiving the prestigious Padma Shri for his contribution to medicine is truly inspiring. At HPS, we have always believed in nurturing individuals who lead with excellence, integrity, and service, and Dr Rao exemplifies these values in every sense,” he added.
