Human Rights Day: KU experts underline role of legal education
Kakatiya University’s Law College and Resource Centre for UN observed Human Rights Day in Hanamkonda, with speakers stressing awareness, accountability, and the role of legal education. Experts highlighted the UDHR’s relevance and the 2025 theme, ‘Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials’

Hanamkonda: The Resource Centre for United Nations (RCUN) in collaboration with the University College of Law, Kakatiya University at Subedari in Hanamkonda observed International Human Rights Day on Wednesday.
The event was presided over by RCUN coordinator D Rajagovindu. Law College principal Dr N Sudarshan along with KU Executive Council member P Sudhakar and Dr Ch Raju and Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof M Srinivas addressed the gathering.
The speakers stressed the need for continuous awareness, accountability and active engagement in safeguarding fundamental freedoms of individuals in daily life. They highlighted the role of legal education in promoting and protecting human rights as well as values in society.
Keynote speakers Dr K Sudhakar and Prof T Vijayachandra, former principals of the college, delivered insightful lectures emphasising the significance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and this year’s global theme ‘Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials’.
