Humiliated by school staff, Class 10 student attempts suicide in Devarakonda
A Class 10 student at TTWRS Balika Gurukul School in Devarakonda, Telangana, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming disinfectant after being scolded and mocked by school staff. The girl’s parents have accused the school of harassment.
Nalgonda: A Class 10 student attempted suicide by consuming liquid disinfectant after allegedly being scolded and humiliated by the staff at TTWRS Balika Gurukul School in Devarakonda town. The girl, currently undergoing treatment at the government hospital, is said to be out of danger.
According to reports, the student had returned to the residential school a week ago after visiting her family. She was allegedly reprimanded by the principal and later mocked by some teachers in front of her classmates. Upset and distressed, she went to her hostel room that evening and consumed a poisonous liquid.
Her classmates noticed her condition and immediately alerted the teachers on duty, who rushed her to the Devarakonda Government Hospital. Doctors said her condition was stable and she was under observation.
The girl’s parents, who reached the hospital after being informed of the incident, accused the school staff of harassing their daughter and claimed the humiliation drove her to attempt suicide.
